Description: Panelists will discuss the importance of collaboration between law enforcement, child welfare services, and other community partners to safeguard children during and following parental arrest. Resources will be provided to assist law enforcement agencies in developing and implementing a policy to safeguard children during parental arrest.Presenters will highlight:

• The impact of parental arrest on children, whether they are present or not
• The benefits of and strategies for building relationships between law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for children
• Recommendations to overcome challenges in partnering with community stakeholders
• Practical examples useful in understanding law enforcement and community partner roles and responsibilities on-scene and off-scene
